You are currently viewing The best surf-rock compilation as Dancing Bear’s tribute to Ennio Morricone

Ennio Morricone, the Italian composer whose atmospheric scores for spaghetti westerns and some 500 movies by prominent international directors made him one of the world’s most versatile and influential creators of music for the modern cinema, died on July 6th in Rome. Fondly referred to as il maestro by his peers, Morricone is just that: a master of his craft, a true virtuoso, effortlessly interweaving contrasting styles to produce some of the most sublime music of our day.

Morricone’s innovative soundworks and truly exhaustive range of musical styles have complemented practically every conceivable movie genre there is. Generations of rock musicians are fascinated by the music of Ennio Morricone, and the special love of surf-rock bands and Morricone is evidenced by the fact that the musical genius wrote his first spaghetti-western film compositions in part inspired by the new surf-rock scene.

Almost 20 years ago, Dancing Bear Records put together a tribute to his genius and spaghetti western scores that featured top-notch surf-rock musicians from all around the world. The compilation “For a Few Guitars More: A Tribute to Morricone’s Spaghetti Western Themes” brings seventeen gems originally composed for spaghetti westerns and recorded in new arrangements by famous surf-rock and instrumental bands that immortalized them. The editors of this release, which Dancing Bear Records proudly put on the world map in 2002, are Dalibor Pavičić, guitarist of Croatian top bands The Bambi Molesters and The Strange, and Larry White, an expert on spaghetti westerns and surf rock.

This incredibly strong compilation and tribute to the innovator from Dancing Bear back catalogue was widely acclaimed as one of the best compilations of the genre and is must-have listening. Give it a listen on this link: https://lnk.to/ForaFewGuitarsMore
